Your BitLocker recovery key is a unique 48-digit numerical password that can be used to unlock your system if BitLocker is otherwise unable to confirm for certain that the attempt to access the system drive is authorized.

<aside> 💡 You can login from any device to Microsoft Account to get the BitLocker recovery key.

To find your BitLocker recovery key follow these steps:

  1. Click on the link provided in the document to go to the Microsoft My Account page.

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account if you haven't already.
  2. Click on the "Devices" tab.

  1. Under "Device details," click on "BitLocker keys."

  1. Find the device for which you need the recovery key and click on "Manage" next to it.

  2. Your recovery key should now be visible. It is a 48-digit numerical password.

  1. Make sure to copy it down and store it somewhere safe. (Not on the Windows OS)
    1. On you mobile phone
    2. in your email
    3. gdrive or OneDrive or dropbox
